China Horse Fair 2012 delivers record results

The China Horse Fair 2012 (CHF 2012) delivered the most international and comprehensive display of professional equine products and services assembled in China this year.

Reflecting the continued growth in global awareness of China as an emerging export market, world class suppliers from Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East, took this opportunity to put their products in front of an increasingly knowledgeable and professional audience. Representing the country’s top breeding and horse sports and leisure facilities, buyers came from across China including those major centres of activity in Beijing, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia and Wuhan. The audience benefitted from having direct access to international experts who were able to discuss and advise them on their future plans and requirements.

In addition to the many leading Chinese suppliers on display, there was a strong international presence with large official pavilions from France, Germany and the UK, three power-houses of the global equine scene. Alongside them were exhibitors from the USA, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Hungary, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Portugal and Sweden. Commenting on this record level of support, Sonia Ou Yang, marketing manager for CHF 2012, confirmed that “some 132 suppliers from 17 countries, which is up 49% over the previous event, combined to ensure that the CHF 2012 was not just the largest edition to date, but also the most comprehensive in the products on display.”

Ou Yang went onto say “we have seen considerable change in the profile of exhibitors at CHF since it was first held in 2007, growing from primarily being a collection of breeders and personal riding equipment suppliers, into a diverse event offering the very latest in nutrition and equine healthcare, horse and rider training equipment and services, facility equipment and much more.”

In conjunction with the exhibition is a highly informative programme of educational presentations from leading authorities in the field of equine management and development. At the ‘French Afternoon’ presentation, French suppliers not only presented their latest products but also provided professional tips on horse breeding and feeding. Experts from Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, USA, and Australia discussed various themes including "Improving Horse Performance: Training the trainer, training the rider, nutrition, equipment", “How to successfully manage and construct a riding club”, and “How to organise Competitions: Barrel Racing and Endurance”. As in previous year’s, these free presentations were immensely popular and attracted numerous trade visitors.

Quality and unique products at CHF 2012 attracted a lot of attention from the trade visitors. The Racewood Interactive Dressage Simulator at the show for the first time was a very good example. Many Chinese riders and trainers were interested to try the simulator during the show and could immediately see the benefits of utilizing this technology in their facility and so leading to some serious enquiries to purchase in the future.

The feedback from exhibitors at CHF 2012 has been very positive with approximately 80 per cent saying they were very satisfied or satisfied in terms of achieving their goals for the fair. A UK exhibitor Westgate EFI said, ”The China horse fair presented numerous business opportunities enabling us to develop within a growing market.” While Dutch Premium Horses from The Netherlands thought CHF 2012 was a “very useful fair, providing possibilities to enter the Chinese equestrian market.” “Anyone looking to investigate the market possibilities in China for the horse industry - CHF is a great place to start. ” said Michael Daly from Ireland. Australian company Hy Gain Feeds Ltd who has exhibited at CHF several times commented, “We perceive China as a fast growing and interesting market with great potential. We found great acceptance amongst most horse owners, eager to increase their horses' level of health and performance through our product.”

The growth and development of China Horse Fair since 2007, reflects the emergence and rapid development of China’s equine market, both of which are well placed to continue in the future.

CHF 2013 will once again take place in Beijing in October 2013.Further information is available at www.chinahorsefair.com.cn.
