In 2015, leading clubs in China, such as the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group and the China Horse Club, began to purchase high quality horses to participate in horse racing competitions overseas. ‘Mongolia Khan’ from Rider Horses and ‘Alpina’ , ‘Dissident’, and ‘Beat of the Drum’ from the China Horse Club won champion trophies in New Zealand, Australia and America this year, which will undoubtedly encourage more and more local clubs to purchase high quality racing horses and participate at competitions internationally.
From the end of 2015, another Chinese equine company called Shanxi Yulong Group started to send horses to compete in international horse racing competitions overseas. ‘Dongxing Princess’ and ‘Yulong Baby’ owned by Yulong have participated in competitions organised in Australia and got good grades recently. Shanxi Yulong Group founded and started to purchase horses overseas in 2008. Now Yulong owns 47 horses which were bought in Australian, Ireland and Singapore.
In 2016, this horse purchasing trend will continue in China.
From Jan 6th to 12th 2016, buyers from mainland China and Hong Kong spent 20 million AUD at the Australian Magic Million 1 year old thoroughbred auction purchasing horses.
Jan 22nd 2016, China Horse Club successfully brought a mare horse at South Africa Thoroughbred Auction.
Just before the Chinese New Year, Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group spent RMB4.78 million at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale purchasing 5 horses.
